CHORLEY were defeated 2-0 away to King’s Lynn Town.
Goals from Jesse Nwabueze and Reece Hall-Johnson allowed Paul Caddis’ side to take all three points on Saturday afternoon in Norfolk.
The Linnets took the lead in remarkable fashion, in the 41st minute, as Nwabueze hit a spectacular free kick from 25 yards which went in off the underside of the crossbar.
Their second came in the 62nd minute, as Hall-Johnson received the ball following a flick on and ran into the penalty area, and then poked his effort into the far bottom corner.
In an afternoon void of many clear-cut chances for Andy Preece’s side, the Magpies came close on two occasions, the first through a Callum Rowe effort from range which rattled the crossbar, and the second, a Harvey Smith header from an Adam Blakeman corner which was cleared off the line by King’s Lynn skipper Michael Clunan.
Chorley’s attention will now switch to the Emirates FA Cup, as they enter the competition in the second qualifying round next Saturday in an away tie against Warrington Rylands.
