REPORT: Chorley 0-3 Accrington Stanley
Magpies beaten in tough test vs Accrington Stanley.
CHORLEY were defeated 0-3 in their pre-season friendly against Accrington Stanley.
A brace from Charlie Caton and a header by Josh Woods were enough for the visitors to claim victory at the Grant Store Victory Park Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Stanley’s first came in the 55th minute when Caton received the ball on the edge of the box and released a curling effort which nestled into the bottom corner.
Caton got his and Accrington’s second just a few minutes later, following some good play by Devon Matthews on the left flank; his ball into the box found Caton, who finished well once again.
John Doolan’s side got their third in the 84th minute, when Josh Woods headed home from a corner.
The closest the Magpies came to scoring was just before half-time when Callum Rowe released Jacob Cummins in behind on a counter-attack; the youngster bearing down on goal but fired his effort wide.
Andy Preece’s side will now turn their attention to their next pre-season friendly away to Trafford FC on Tuesday evening.
